Score one more for local radio in South Dakota! The FCC reports that John E. Small’s Cup O’ Dirt, LLC is purchasing KSQB-AM 1520 from Backyard Broadcasting. Presumably, KSQB will become a joint venture with John’s online radio station “Sunny Radio – Where it’s Always in the 80s”, located in Brandon, South Dakota. The website also mentions plans for a future FM frequency of 92.1Mhz.
This comes on the heels of Aberdeen-based Dakota Broadcasting’s purchase of 9 stations from NRG Media which occured in late December. Local radio ownership is enjoying a welcome resurgence in the Mount Rushmore state!
