WYOO-AM 980 Minneapolis MN New YOO Jingle 1972

In late 1972, WYOO was the ‘new’ station on Twin Cities radio dials.  Specifically, the New YOO. To reinforce their image, they cut a singing jingle which aired frequently.  I loved to aircheck this station, which is interesting because their format was Oldies.  Being only 8 years old at the time, I didn’t know any of the music that WYOO played!  What was the attraction? Great jocks like “Big” Bob Chase, “Tall” Robert Hall, “Sweet Michael” O’Shea, Doug MacKinnon, and Tommy Graham.

This jingle starts out with “There’s a New YOO swingin’ in the Twin Cities everyday.  A New YOO, Double-U-Y-O-O, New Yoo.”  I wasn’t able to get my tape recorder turned on quick enough, so the beginning is clipped slightly.  I recorded this from Apple Valley, Minnesota, using a Spartan/Atlantic unit and Audio Magnetics 60 minute “bag” cassette.
