WWIB-FM 103.7 Ladysmith WI 1982

WWIB’s call letters stand for Western Wisconsin’s Inspirational Broadcasters.  I believe this was the original Christian radio station in the region. WWIB was licensed to Ladysmith with studios in Cornell.  Their 100,000 watt signal had a large coverage footprint which reached much of western and central Wisconsin.  I had no problem hearing them anytime from my location in Apple Valley, Minnesota.

A distinguishing characteristic of WWIB was that they would always give their top of the hour Legal ID going into United Press International news.  The announcers would time it perfectly, ending with the network cue tone before the news began.  You can hear it on this aircheck.

I received this using a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver, Winegard 10 element FM yagi antenna, Alliance U-100 Tenna Rotor, and Belden RG59 ultra low loss coaxial cable.  A Technics stereo cassette deck and Scotch Dynarange 90 tape were used to make the recording.
