KDWB-FM 101.3 Minneapolis MN Chuck Britton 1978

Chuck Britton was a great talent. He spent time behind the microphone of “The Big 89”, Chicago’s WLS. Before heading to the Windy City, Chuck spent time in the Twin Cities at KDWB. More accurately, it was “Stereo KDWB, FM-101 and AM-63” during this period of time.

Here’s a quick aircheck of Britton from early 1978. Also included is a commercial for Sound of Music, a local stereo store. Those of you outside of Minnesota have probably never heard of Sound of Music. But I’m sure you’re familiar what it eventually morphed into: the national electronics superstore chain known as Best Buy!

This was recorded from my location in Apple Valley, Minnesota, using a Sears AM/FM/cassette monaural portable unit. Source tape was an inexpensive Audio Magnetics “bag” cassette. I wish I had used a better tape. Being 13 years old at the time, it was all I could afford.
