CFTR-AM 680 Toronto ON Canada 1983

AM Top 40 radio was still going strong in Toronto during the spring of 1983!  There were two outlets: the legendary CHUM-1050 and CFTR-680.  I couldn’t hear CHUM, due to the presence of 100,000 watt Mexican Border Blaster XEG being on the same frequency.  But I could pull in CFTR pretty well.  Here’s a short aircheck clip of how they sounded in the overnight hours.

This was recorded from Apple Valley, Minnesota, using a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver and horizontal longwire antenna.  A Technics stereo cassette deck and TDK D90 tape were used to make the recording.
