KRIT-FM 96.9 Fort Dodge IA Dave Haldin 1988

Dave Haldin was the morning host on North Central Iowa’s Super 97. I worked with him the previous year as we relocated KRIT from Clarion to Fort Dodge and made it operational.  Dave came back to Fort Dodge after a short stint at KFMW “FM108” in Waterloo.  Prior to that, he had worked across town at KKEZ for several years.

This aircheck was recorded a few months before Amy Alberts joined Dave for mornings.  He was flying solo at this time.  By now, I had left the station and was back in the Twin Cities.  However, I was able to receive KRIT from 180 miles away by using my Pioneer SX-3900 receiver and Winegard 10 element yagi antenna.  There is a hint of splash from local KTCZ on 97.1, but not too bad considering the extended distance from KRIT’s transmitter to my receiver.

Heard here is a promo for “A DJ and Three Eat Free.”  Each Wednesday at noon, three lucky Super 97 listeners would get to eat free with Dave at Taco Johns!  Our receptionist Sheryl voiced this.  Not bad for a gal no previous radio experience!

Additonal equipment used to capture this was an Alliance U-100 Tenna Rotor, Belden RG59 ultra low loss coaxial cable, Sears stereo cassette deck, and a BASF 60 minute normal bias cassette.
