During the early 1980s, WKLK was your typical “hometown” radio station. Although adjacent to Duluth, both the AM and FM stations focused on Cloquet. Neither tried to rimshot the larger market. WLKK-FM was only 3,000 watts back in those days, so it was a pretty good catch from my location in Apple Valley, Minnesota.
Reception was made using a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver, Winegard 10 element FM yagi antenna, Alliance U-100 Tenna Rotor, and Belden ultra low loss RG59 coaxial cable. This recording took place on a Technics stereo cassette deck with a TDK SA90 cassette.
