By 1982, WIFC 95FM was already a CHR power in Central Wisconsin. As of 2019, they have been Top 40/CHR for 45 continuous years! Duff Damos was their Program Director for what seemed like forever. I remember sending him tapes and resumes when I was first starting out in radio. No, he never hired me. Considering how I sounded as a rookie DJ, I don’t blame him!
From my location in Apple Valley, MN, reception of WIFC wasn’t too difficult. This was long before the 95.5’s in Mora and New Prague became active. I simply pointed my beam east and dialed them up. Keith Roberts and Jeff Scott are both heard here.
To pull in WIFC, I used a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver, Winegard 10 element FM yagi antenna, Alliance U-100 Tenna Rotor, and Belden ultra low loss RG59 coaxial cable. The recording was made to a Technics stereo cassette deck with Scotch Dynarange 90 tape.
