Shortly before this aircheck was recorded, WIAL-FM 94.1 flipped from it’s long running automated Beautiful Music format to Hot AC. In doing so, they became a direct competitor to WBIZ (Z100) across town. Notice how “live personalities ’round the clock” is emphasized in their presentation. WIAL’s AM sister station was 790 WEAQ, a Top 40 outlet during the 1970s.
I grabbed this from Apple Valley, MN, using a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver, Winegard 10 element FM yagi antenna, Alliance U-100 Tenna Rotor, and Belden RG59 ultra low loss coaxial cable. The recording was made on a Technics stereo cassette deck with Scotch Dynarange 90 tape.
