Although they hadn’t yet adopted the Cuddle moniker, KUDL-FM was Kansas City’s “lite” station. They may have been simulcasting with KUDL-AM 1380 during this time since the Legal ID is given as “KUDL, Kansas City” as opposed to “KUDL-FM.” Does anyone know for sure? On a Saturday night in August, Jack Diamond was behind the microphone.
I recorded this from a motel room in Lawrence. All of 19 years old, I was headed from Minnesota to my first radio job in Colorado. I purposely chose Lawrence as my stopping point so that I could aircheck stations from both Kansas City and Topeka. Check out my other exhibits from this date to hear more from each of these markets. Equipment used was a Pioneer AM/FM/cassette stereo portable unit with built-in telescoping antenna. Source tape is a TDK D90.
