Here’s a brief aircheck from “Roughrider Country” KSJB. This station has a huge “figure 8” signal footprint which extends from the Black Hills of South Dakota to southwestern Ontario! Their city-grade coverage includes Bismarck, Fargo, and Grand Forks. Nulls on the sides of the pattern protect other “600” stations in Cedar Rapids and Saskatoon.
KSJB is one of very few stations that has remained live and local, continuing to employ true air personalities who play music and entertain their listeners on the AM dial. Their approach obviously works and has been successful for a very long time in North Dakota radio.
This was recorded from my grandparents’ house in Michigan, North Dakota. I used a Pioneer AM/FM/cassette portable unit. Source tape is a TDK D90.
