KNAB was the station where I began my radio career at age 19. It was a small, rural station in the middle of farm country. Even though KNAB was small, it was quite successful. We were young and very much a bunch of rookies, but also very eager! Every one of us loved radio and were happy for the opportunity to get our start in broadcasting.
Mike Mortensen was our News Director. He also had a short midday airshift, taking control of the microphone from 1-3PM. Also included in this aircheck are several locally produced commercials. Production voices include Jim Nyland, Ted Hall, Leighman William Covington III aka “Lee Covington”, Lonnie Haines, Lonnie Douglas, and yours truly.
This was recorded from my apartment using a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver with wire dipole antenna and a Technics stereo cassette deck. Source tape is a TDK D90.
