This KIOV aircheck was previously released as part of my “Sioux Falls Dial Scan” composite. KIOV was the FM Country station in Sioux Falls during the early 1980s. Leigh Anglin was their evening announcer.
KIOV was a regular visitor to my Apple Valley, Minnesota listening post. The directional angles to Sioux Falls and St. Cloud from my location allowed me to put “the side” of my beam antenna towards St. Cloud and null out (co-channel) KCLD. Doing so would allow KIOV to be heard with just a bit of white noise, caused by KCLD.
The signal was captured with a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver, Winegard 10 element FM yagi antenna, Alliance U-100 Tenna Rotor, and Belden RG59 coaxial cable. It was recorded with a Technics stereo cassette deck. The tape used was a Scotch Dynarange 90.
