Here’s another Winnipeg FM that I was able to hear by loosening the mast screws on Grandpa’s TV antenna and repositioning it from southeast to northeast! I believe CHMM was one of only five local FM stations in existence at the time. They played a variety mix of current hits and album cuts.
This was recorded from Michigan, North Dakota, using a Pioneer AM/FM/cassette stereo unit and “fringe” TV antenna. Source tape is a TDK D90.
This is my dad! Thank you for this so much!
Hi Vince!
I caught that completely by accident one night while messing with Grandpa’s big TV antenna and scanning the dial. Wish I had more of your dad to share!
Paul was a friend of my dad’s (my dad’s name was Glen Miller). I believe they both worked at CJOB in Winnipeg. Anyhow that’s how I first met Paul. He would come over to our house and play guitar, later on after I had grown and moved out on my own I took guitar lessons from Paul. He was the best music teacher I ever had. What a cool guy. It was really nice to hear this clip of his voice.
