71 WHB is one of those legendary Top 40 AM stations that survived well into the 1980s. The duo of J.R. and Chuck held down afternoons during this time. I was just barely outside of WHB’s daytime coverage area, but could hear them pretty well after the sun went down. Shortly after this aircheck was recorded, WHB finally succumbed to FM competitors ZZ99 and (especially) Q104, dropping out of the Top 40/CHR battle.
I recorded this from Apple Valley, Minnesota, using a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver and longwire antenna. The recording was made with a Technics stereo cassette deck and TDK D90 tape.
