Here’s the Legal ID used by KXLP during the early 1980s. This was when the station was still co-owned with KNUJ, located in New Ulm. Their big move to Mankato didn’t occur for several more years. Interestingly enough, there is no mention of Mankato. The ID simply states “93 KXLP New Ulm: Southern Minnesota’s best music!” I would guess most of their listeners were in Mankato, given the fact that Mankato State University is located there and KXLP was the market’s only rock station at that time.
Reception was made from Apple Valley, Minnesota, using a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver, Winegard 10 element FM yagi antenna, Alliance U-100 Tenna Rotor, and Belden ultra low loss RG59 coaxial cable. It was recorded on a Technics stereo cassette deck with TDK SA90 tape.
